I am a certified skipper. Sailing with a sailboat and sailing at sea is always special.
Play with the forces of wind and water.
10 years ago I graduated as a Change Manager at Vu Amsterdam. It was a
fascinating study. It was a classical study. Know hundreds of theories and models.
You were taught to make scientifically based diagnoses, plan and plan and execute.
In practice I noticed that this often stuck. And that a plan was soon released. In saw
that also that many managers and managers just mess with change. Their focus was
on doing. Research shows that around 50% of the changes fail. That the intended
changes did not yield much needed results.
A few years ago I came across Wim Bouman again. He is called to study at UVA. At
UVA, original thinking is an important point of attention.
Together we went looking for the alternative to make a diagnosis plan. During our
search, we soon came across design thinking.
Empathy alone, what a wonderful start to something beautiful.
Wim and I have started to think and have always come up with bits and pieces
applied in practice. It has become Designing for change.
We are happy to share our story with you.
